Spurs without Alli and Lloris for Liverpool clash
Dele Alli will miss Tottenham's Premier League match against Liverpool with a hamstring injury as club captain Hugo Lloris also remains on the sidelines. According to Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, Alli suffered the injury during the early stages of England's Nations League clash with Spain but still played every minute of the 2-1 defeat. The 22-year-old midfielder could also be ruled out of next Tuesday's Champions League opener away to Inter. "He's a little but unlucky," Pochettino told Sky Sports News. "He suffered a small injury after 20 minutes in the game against Spain at Wembley "We are disappointed because we are going to miss him for this game and maybe against Inter in the Champions League. "The most important thing is it is not a big issue and we hope Dele can be available as soon as possible." TEAM NEWS:  @dele_official (hamstring) unavailable this weekend.  Hugo Lloris (thigh) unavailable and expected to be out for several weeks.  @JuanMFoyth (thigh) returned to training last week.  @MoussaSissoko (hamstring) expected to return to training next week. pic.twitter.com/zUBDxf7hZe — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) September 13, 2018 Goalkeeper Lloris sustained a thigh problem during last month's 3-0 win at Manchester United, which meant he missed the subsequent 2-1 loss at Watford and France's international commitments over the past week. Lloris, who was this week fined £50,000 and handed a 20-month ban after pleading guilty to drink-driving, had hoped to be fit to face Liverpool but a statement on Tottenham's official website confirmed he is expected to be out for "several weeks". "Now he is going to do another scan to try and see how much he is injured," Pochettino added. "Hopefully everything is going well and he can be back as soon as possible, like Dele."

Manchester United set to sign Salvador Cabanas before Paraguay star was SHOT in head in nightclub

MANCHESTER UNITED had a deal in place to sign former Paraguay star Salvador Cabanas before he was shot in the head.

Cabanas, who won the South American Footballer of the Year gong in 2007, was claimed to be a major transfer target for former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson at the time.

Salvador Cabanas was denied a move to Manchester United after a horrific gun attack in 2010Reuters

However, the striker’s hopes of a dream move to Old Trafford were crushed when he was caught up in a horrific incident.

Cabanas was shot in the head inside the Bar Bar nightclub in Mexico City in 2010 and spent the next month in intensive care.

And now the 38-year-old has confirmed a deal was lined up to take him to the Premier League to link up with Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov in a potentially mouth-watering attack.

He told Telefuturo: “I had signed a pre-contract agreement for £1.3m for a transfer to Europe.

“They told me my destination would be Manchester United.

“Club America doubled my salary and gave me one apartment in Acapulco and another in Cancun to try and keep me at the club.”

Cabanas was shot after an altercation in the nightclub bathroom and after brief stints with several South American clubs, he eventually retired in 2014.

He now sells bread in his hometown Asuncion and has no regrets about the cruel turn of events that changed his life.

Cabanas added: “I am going to keep moving forward. I like the work, people recognise me and ask me about football. I have a lot of fun.”

The ex-striker scored 10 goals in 44 appearances for Paraguay and played for his country at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola to ‘meet with Juventus in December’ over return from Manchester United

PAUL POGBA’S agent Mino Raiola is reportedly set to meet with Juventus in December to discuss the Frenchman’s return to Italy.

The Manchester United star has is believed to be unhappy at Old Trafford amid rumours he has fallen out with Jose Mourinho.

Reuters Paul Pogba fuelled new rumours on Thursday after admitting a departure from Old Trafford could be on the horizon[/caption]

Raiola is set to meet with Juventus to discuss Moise Kean – but will also look at an option with the Italian club for Pogba to return.

Pogba has been dropping hints over the last month that he is unhappy and could leave before the season finishes.

The 25-year-old said this week: “My future is currently in Manchester. I still have a contract and right now I’m playing there, but who knows what will happen in the next few months.”

According to Tuttosport, negotiations are already underway for Pogba to return to Turin and his agent Raiola is pushing the move closer.

Mourinho has worked hard to make Pogba feel valued within the team after handing him the captain’s armband for the opening match against Leicester City.

Pogba departed Le Havre to join the youth academy at Manchester United in 2009, the Red Devils two years later gave him his first-team debut but after three appearances Alex Ferguson confirmed that Pogba had left the club after not signing a new contract.

The French intentional completed a transfer to Juventus in 2012 and signed a four-year-contract.

However, after 178 competitive games for Juventus, providing 34 goals and 43 assists, Pogba made his move back to Manchester United in 2016 on a five-year contract for a then-record transfer fee at €105 million (£89.3 million) surpassing the former record holder Gareth Bale.

Manchester United are currently on international break this weekend and resume next week to prepare for their game at third-placed Watford.

Jordan Pickford shows off incredible ‘Get the rave on’ boots… but Kyle Walker forgets his for England training

JORDAN PICKFORD has reported in for England duty – and he is clearly still on a national high after his World Cup exploits.

The Everton goalkeeper was one of the Three Lions’ stars out in Russia this summer, so he decided to celebrate to get some customised boots for the next international competition.

But it wasn’t a tribute to a loved one, or to his boyhood or current club the 24-year-old went for.

Instead he had the words “Get the rave on” printed on the outside edge of his boots.

Clearly Pickford is still feeling the ‘party’ feeling that enveloped a nation as Gareth Southgate‘s young guns finally did the nation proud in a major tournament.

But for Kyle Walker, he’ll be lucky if he can even start training.

The Manchester City defender turned up to St George’s Park without his boots.

He tried to assure staff he wasn’t joking, and eventually they believed him.

England return to action for the first time since the World Cup when they take on Spain at Wembley this weekend.

Gareth Southgate’s side are likely to receive a big welcome after reaching the semi-final of Russia 2018 as they face the Spanish in their debut Uefa Nations League match.

While Southgate has kept a familiar core to the squad which performed so well in the summer, Spain are embarking on a period of transition with new boss Luis Enrique in place.

England have been hit by the withdrawal of both Raheem Sterling and Adam Lallana from the original squad named by Southgate.

Southgate was the preferred option linking up with Harry Kane in attack, so Marcus Rashford may get the chance to come in from the start.

Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso is pushing for a start, but ex-Stamford Bridge team-mate Diego Costa has been forced out through injury.

Morata considered Chelsea exit after 'disaster' of first season and World Cup snub
Alvaro Morata considered leaving Chelsea just a year after joining from Real Madrid in the wake of a disappointing first season and heartbreak at missing out on the World Cup. The striker moved to Stamford Bridge last July for a reported fee of £60million, then a club record for the Blues, and scored six goals in his first six Premier League games in an encouraging start to life in England. However, a mysterious back problem blighted the rest of his season and he only scored five league goals between late September and May, with his loss of form leading to Julen Lopetegui leaving him out of Spain's squad for the World Cup. The blow of not going to Russia prompted Morata to think seriously about heading back to Spain or Italy, where he thrived with Juventus, although he says a return to Real Madrid was "never an option".  ¡Bienvenido, @AlvaroMorata! Nuestros internacionales empiezan a llegar a la concentración en la Ciudad del Fútbol #UnaNuevaIlusión pic.twitter.com/hx9WjKvZC4 — Selección Española de Fútbol (@SeFutbol) September 3, 2018 Recalling how he felt after being left out by Lopetegui, he told a news conference: "'F***, how am I going to live the summer without going to the World Cup?' It was a tough moment. "I'm going to do everything possible to go to the next one. It was a difficult moment because I expected to go. "I don't hold a grudge against Lopetegui. It was his opinion and I did not have my best season, either. I wish him the best and more so now that he's at Real Madrid. "Yes, of course I considered going back to Spain or Italy. But you can't always escape reality. I left here [Spain] in order to be at the World Cup, and I didn't go. "Of course, it was my worst moment. When you start to play football and watch World Cups on TV, it's your biggest dream." Morata believes Maurizio Sarri's arrival at Chelsea and becoming a father helped him come through the "disaster" of his first year in England. A post shared by Álvaro Morata (@alvaromorata) on Jul 29, 2018 at 7:16am PDT "Last year started well but in the end it was a disaster. I didn't even know where I was when I went out to play," he admitted. "I've become a father, I have a new coach, I've returned to the national team. A lot of important things have changed my life, especially my two sons, who are a special motivation and now I hope everything goes well on the pitch." Spain's Morata was recalled by Luis Enrique for the UEFA Nations League matches with England and Croatia this month, having started the season in good shape to help Chelsea to four wins from four league games. The 25-year-old felt anxious returning to the national team but has been encouraged by talks with the new head coach. "I feel like it's the first time again. I was almost nervous yesterday. I arrived an hour and a half early!" he said. "Luis Enrique told us he wants Spain to get back to winning and that everyone should know who Spain are. "He asks for a lot of intensity, a lot of concentration. From having spoken to him, he seems a very sincere person, who is eager to win."

Hearts skipper Christophe Berra ruled out for up to SIX months after tearing hamstring against Celtic

HEARTS skipper Christophe Berra won’t play again this year after being ruled out for up to SIX months.

The defender, 33, was carried off on a stretcher in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Celtic at Tynecastle.

And a scan yesterday revealed that Berra has torn his hamstring and will be out of action until the New Year.

Gutted Jambos boss Craig Levein said: “It’s obviously a very big blow.

“I’m gutted for Christophe. He’s really never been injured before and has played a number of years at the highest level, so it’s really bad luck.

“The reassuring thing is that this year we have squad depth and Aaron Hughes showed his quality when called upon against Celtic, so we have options going forward.”
