A-League Review: Victory's Barbarouses settles five-goal thriller
Kosta Barbarouses' last-gasp strike secured a dramatic 3-2 win for Melbourne Victory over Perth Glory in the A-League on Saturday. Victory suffered a 2-1 loss to Wellington Phoenix last time out and had to come from behind to see off a Perth side who had suffered defeats in their last three games without scoring. Scott Neville netted the opener in the second minute, heading home at a rain-soaked AAMI Park. The hosts equalised before the break when James Troisi rammed home a loose ball, with Mark Milligan putting them ahead after turning in a free-kick delivery early in the second half. Matija Ljujic's stunning strike cancelled out Brendon Santalab's opener, with the Wanderers hanging on after Brendan Hamill saw red late on.

Rumours rated: Ozil, Sanchez to Manchester; Lemar to Arsenal

Mesut Ozil to Manchester United in summer: 45 percent

There's a good chance Alexis Sanchez will be sold this month, but Arsenal's other big name with an expiring contract will almost certainly finish the season at the Emirates. Come summer, though, the odds of seeing him at Old Trafford will increase since Ozil prefers to stay in the Premier League, especially after Barcelona signing Philippe Coutinho made the Camp Nou a less likely destination. Ozil has been linked to Juventus and Inter, but a move to Serie A is unlikely given his wage demands.

Faouzi Ghoulam to Manchester United: 15 percent

While it's true that Ghoulam has established himself as one of the best left-backs in Europe this season and has a 40 million euro exit clause, he's still recovering from a torn ACL and is not expected to return until late February. Meanwhile, Napoli have gone all out to keep their top players in an effort to win Serie A. Considering that Maurizio Sarri's team are currently in first place, it's unlikely Ghoulam would want to leave before the season ends.

Wilshere's injury casts shadow over Arsenal's admirable draw at Chelsea

Arsenal held Chelsea to a 0-0 draw in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semifinal on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge. Arsene Wenger's side came under sustained pressure in the second half but have a fair chance of making the final at Wembley as a result of the stalemate.

It was a blunt attacking performance from Arsenal, although Ainsley Maitland-Niles had a decent shout for a penalty turned down in the first half -- firstly by the referee and then backed up by a VAR review. Another review late on decided Danny Welbeck had not been guilty of a foul on Cesc Fabregas in the box.

Positives

A clean sheet was most welcome after conceding four in a humbling FA Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest at the weekend. With a few improvements they could even make the final.

Negatives

Arsenal struggled to create many chances on a night when Chelsea were clearly the better side, but the biggest negative may well prove to be an ankle injury that forced Jack Wilshere off and threatens to derail his impressive comeback.

Manager rating out of 10

5 -- Wenger's big call was leaving Alexis Sanchez on the bench and starting Alex Iwobi, whose nighttime antics have been making headlines of late. It proved fairly inconsequential. Arsenal could have done with more presence in midfield as a two-man formulation left them a bit exposed against Chelsea's three.

Player ratings (1-10; 10 = best. Players introduced after 70 minutes get no rating)

GK David Ospina, 6 -- Was needed to make a handful of saves in the first half but will have been relieved to see Andreas Christensen head off target when failing to get to a cross on 67 minutes. Kept Chelsea at bay with a number of stops.

DF Calum Chambers, 6 -- Looked to have suffered a game-ending injury in the second half but battled on. Acquitted himself well.

DF Shkodran Mustafi, 6 -- Was involved in a running battle with Alvaro Morata and had to resort to fouling to try to keep him at bay. Made some important interventions.

DF Rob Holding, 5 -- Had a better 90 minutes than in the embarrassing FA Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest at the weekend. But still room for improvement.

Sources: Man United's Demetri Mitchell to join Hearts on loan

Manchester United defender Demetri Mitchell is set to join Scottish Premiership side Hearts on loan, sources have told ESPN FC.

Highly-rated left-back Mitchell made his debut for United on the final day of last season in the win over Crystal Palace.

The 20-year-old is tipped for a big future at United, but he is currently well down the pecking order in Jose Mourinho's first-team plans at Old Trafford.

United are happy to loan out Mitchell so that he can gain valuable first-team experience and Hearts have beaten a host of clubs to land the defender on loan for the rest of the season.

Neymar, Lionel Messi, Harry Kane… the top ten most valuable stars across Europe revealed

PHILIPPE COUTINHO clinched his £145million move from Liverpool to Barcelona this month… but still doesn’t feature amongst Europe’s ten most valuable players.

According to data from the CIES Football Observatory, the new Barca forward comes in only 16th, valued at £109m.

That means, based on factors such as age, contract length and international appearances, the La Liga giants paid £36m over the odds for the “Little Magician”.

Outside of the top ten, massive names such as Mohamed Salah, Leroy Sane, Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling all narrowly miss out.

But who makes the top ten when it comes to the most valuable players in Europe?

In first place, somewhat unsurprisingly is Neymar – valued at £189m – who swapped Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain for £198m last summer in a world-record deal.

The Brazilian is followed by former team-mate Lionel Messi, who is worth £179m – narrowly above Tottenham star Harry Kane.

The England ace sits third in the list, valued at £172m, with team-mate Dele Alli sixth, worth around £152m.

Manchester United appeared to have got a bargain in Romelu Lukaku too when they landed him for £75m from Everton in the summer.

The Belgian forward is now worth a sky-high £146m, ahead of Antoine Griezmann (£133m) in ninth.

Lukaku’s United team-mate Paul Pogba – bought for £89m 18 months ago – is now valued at £131m in the study.

James not considering Bayern exit
Real Madrid outcast James Rodriguez wants to remain at Bayern Munich despite an inconsistent start to life at Allianz Arena.  The Colombia international joined the Bundesliga champions on a two-year loan deal from Madrid, with the option for the German club to make the move permanent. The 26-year-old struggled to settle early this season, as Bayern's poor form cost Carlo Ancelotti his job as head coach. James has found himself in the starting XI with more regularity under Ancelotti's replacement Jupp Heynckes, though, and the playmaker hopes to remain in Bavaria.   "I'll stay here… I am very happy in Munich," he was quoted as saying by Kicker. "I don't want to think about something else." Speaking at a news conference on Thursday, he said: "I have a very good feeling in the team. I hope things also go well in the second half of the season because I still want to achieve a lot with this team. "Jupp Heynckes is a top coach – second to none in the world. We speak a lot and it obviously helps me that he speaks Spanish. "I slowly found my rhythm. It helped that I got so much playing time. "I like the Bundesliga stadiums a lot; they are always full. You also play against very good teams. It's a top league." @jamesdrodriguez : "I have a very good feeling in the team. "Sandro Wagner gives us another option," he said. "He is confident, is focused in training and is very committed." Muller was among those players rumoured to be unhappy with Ancelotti's methods, but the Germany international offered a glowing endorsement of life under Heynckes, as Bayern enjoy a training camp in the warmth of Doha.  "The conditions here are, as ever, top," he said. "Because the winter break is so short, there's even more focus on the training sessions. "In the last few weeks we have fought for each other – that's how we won tight games. Now we want to make the next step in footballing terms."

Allegri sets Juventus 96-point title target
Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri believes his team will need a 96-point haul to retain their Serie A title this season. Juve are chasing a seventh consecutive Scudetto but find themselves second in the standings, a point behind Napoli at the halfway stage this time around. The excellent form displayed by Maurizio Sarri's side has convinced Allegri that Juve will need their best points total since a Serie A record of 102 in 2013-14 to prevail come May. "What is certain is that to go through, we cannot repeat the performance we put in at Verona," said Allegri at a news conference ahead of Wednesday's Coppa Italia derby against Torino. "We have to get through the quarter-final and then win at Cagliari [on Saturday]. Coming up are two games that we cannot get wrong. "We cannot afford to lose any more points to Napoli. We must stay in their wake or try to surpass them. "If we have to recover it will become more difficult in season where, at the moment, the projection for winning the Scudetto is 96 points." Allegri confirmed Paulo Dybala will remain in the starting line-up for the Turin derby after his match-winning brace in the eventual 3-1 win at Verona, with one of Mario Mandzukic or Gonzalo Higuain set to be rested.  @OfficialAllegri: "@PauDybala_JR will play tomorrow, either as a central striker or partnering @MarioMandzukic9 or @G_Higuain."#TIMCup #JuveTorino pic.twitter.com/zSkbBEmT7x — JuventusFC (@juventusfcen) January 2, 2018 Daniele Rugani and Claudio Marchisio could start in defence and midfield respectively, while veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon (calf), defender Benedikt Howedes (thigh) and winger Juan Cuadrado (pelvis) remain sidelined.
